Let’s Get Crafty!

When the weather starts to cool off, we tend to look for things to do inside the home and what better task then to start bringing out some fall decor. The bright, rich colors of red, orange and yellow leaves bring a joy when they’re inside the home. If you want to try your hand at making a fall wreath, here are some pointers!

My Materials

I purchased my materials at Hobby Lobby. The great thing about Hobby Lobby is they tend to have their floral items 50% off most of the year! I specifically chose fall colors like reds, oranges, yellows, tans/browns and of course some white and green to offset.

You can purchase a metal wreath Frame, make one out of branches from your back yard or purchase a wreath “base” to work off of. I decided to buy a large wooded bead Frame to fit my farmhouse home decor.

You’ll need scissors and a glue gun. I had some some floral wire on hand but didn’t end up using it. I started by breaking apart the floral bounces into individual stems. I also trimmed each stem up so I didn’t have excess stem to hide on my wreath. Before I started attaching anything, I laid the different florals out on the floor to understand where I wanted to attached each stem. I chose to only add florals to the bottom part of the wreath and leave most of the wooded beads exposed.

To place a stem where I wanted it, I would wrap the wire stem around the wreath and then use hot glue to ensure the floral head stayed exactly where I wanted it. I began by placing the center stem in the middle of the bead wreath and the two outside stems so I knew the space I wanted to fill in. I tend to like symmetry so I planned out my floral placement as such.

When I had the larger stems placed, I added in some accent stems that almost looked like tiny pumpkins.

After everything was attached and glued in place, I hung the wreath with some faux antlers. With the excess stems from the arrangements I purchased, I made two matching vase arrangements! It took me about an hour from start to finished, and I had much more fun creating my fall wreath than just picking one out from the store.
