Wellness At Home

If this past year has taught us anything, it’s that we should LOVE the home we live in. In order for us to love our home, it needs to work for us on a multitude of levels. It needs to be warm, inviting, have space for everyday needs, and most of all - it needs to make you happy.

I was recently able to be a part of a discussion created by Kohler about creating wellness at home. Wellness at home is the connection between well-being and design in our homes. One way to achieve this is to bring natural elements inside. Wood accents pieces, a wool rug, plants, and even extra lighting will help you achieve this.

In order to achieve wellness at home, we also need to look at how we use our homes. If you’re anything like me, you rearranged the same room multiple times over the course of 2020 to make a room function in different ways. Why do toys need to be in every room? Should my daughter do e-learning in the same office that I’m working from? We quickly learned that we need a dedicated and separate space for everything. You might not be as motivated to work out if you’re doing so in your bedroom. Can you create a dedicated space in your basement for this? It’s easy to feel isolated if you eat and work in the same room, or workout and sleep in the same bedroom. Try to make a dedicated space for every facet of your life.

We can also achieve wellness at home by considering how we clean our spaces or keep them sanitary. Kohler has amazing products that help us be “touchless” in our homes. I love the idea of a kitchen faucet that will turn on or off with the tap of your arm or waving it in front of a sensor. When I’m making hamburgers and have both of my hands in the meat mixing it up, I don’t want to worry about having to use a dirty hand to turn on the faucet to wash my hands. The Kohler Touchless Faucet allows us to halt the spread of germs and bacteria.

From bringing in natural elements to having a defined space for every aspect of our daily lives, we can achieve wellness at home in a multitude of ways. If you can’t find wellness in your home, maybe it’s time to consider a move . . .  - Allyson
